SHOW Report

Hammond Sessions Bradford
19th Nov 2004-11-24

Just to prove to you all that we don't always do things 'down south' in big venues and we do get out and about to the provinces in smaller local venues. Here is a bit of an overview of one such event.

read on .....

Well………

Thoroughly enjoyed this one …

Friday night:

After a rushed day travelling to the venue from London via Northampton via Manchester to Bradford (about 3 hours behind schedule ****** traffic!) we finally got the kit in place for the Friday night
‘Hammond Band Show’
Next job was ‘A PINT’ !

The show went very well indeed. The Queens was packed to burstin' and the music covered all styles of Hammond grooves ranging from McGriff and Smith type numbers to raunchier Rock and R&B sets. The show closed with a’ Hammond’ised’ arrangement of the Van Morrison classic ‘MoonDance’ featuring the stunning vocals of Suzanne Booth showing just how versatile this amazing singer really is.

The band for this show was….

SUZANNE BOOTH VOCALS
CHRIS DURLING DRUMS
NIGEL HOPE GUITAR
MALC DEAKIN
NEW HAMMOND B3 PORTABLE + LESLIE 21 SYSTEM
AND A GUEST APPEARANCE BY
BILLY
(BLUES HARP) DELL

Not to forget Jamie and his team at the venue ‘The Queens Hotel’ fantastic food …great beer …..very nice, cool atmosphere.

It always amazes me when we do shows where the general public are around just how many people come over and talk to us about ‘that sound’ and how it sounds just as good now as it did years ago when they were maybe listening to the mighty Hammond at a local club or bar some or on one of the many chart and album hits it has appeared on over the last 40 odd years. Talk about standing the test of time. Can’t think of any other instrument that creates this kind of interest. One minuet you are talking to a young music student… the next a retired person both of whom are ‘seriously impressed’ by the versatility and fat warm sound of the Hammond Organ.

Saturday Open Day:

Early start to reformat the venue from ’Live Stage set’ into ‘Try the Hammond’ mode.

As you can see from the pictures, we encourage a ‘hands on’ approach to getting acquainted to the Hammond Organ range of products.

If you have never been to one of our Sessions Shows or Meet the B Shows you are missing out. We always have great fun and make many new friends.
Keep a look out for a posting on this web as we may be in your area soon.

Many thanks to the Band and all the other people who were involve in this show.
